Sea Monsters Spotted Along The Massachusetts Coastline
Planning to take a dip this weekend? Think you're safe from sea monsters off of Cape Cod? Think again...
Just last week, giant jellyfish were spotted washed up on Hingham and Nahant Beaches. This specific species, the Lion's Mane Jellyfish, is the largest known variety. They can grow over 5' in diameter and have tentacles over 100' long. If you are wondering, yes, they sting.
Fortunately, the Lion's Mane Jellyfish is not known to leave lasting damage to a person past temporary pain and redness where skin comes in contact with the tentacles.
Swimmers, beware. Though you will recover from the sting, you do not want to be meters from shore when the shock of jellyfish stings surprise you.
