How-to Bracelet Tutorials

At Sailormade, we are constantly inspired by the ingenuity of maritime design. To us, hardware and rope work, like brummels and slipknots, are the ultimate example of beautiful form serendipitously following function. Check out the following videos to learn how our refined nautical jewelry is worn.

How to measure your wrist

To start, we want to make sure you have the right size bracelet. Review the video below on how to measure your wrist and refer to our size guide HERE.

BRUMMEL BRACELETS

Ahh, our pride and joy, the original Sailormade Brummel Bracelet. Brummel clips, or sister hooks, were original designed as a quick release system to raise signal flags on ships. Don't let this unusual clasp intimidate you. We promise, once you get the hang of it you'll be clasping brummels with your eyes closed.

First, let us show you how real brummels work:

This is how you clasp your brummel bracelet with one hand:

If you need a little extra help, ask a friend and clasp your brummel bracelet with two hands:

If you have trouble getting your rope bracelet off don't sweat it! Our rope bracelets are totally fine to be worn in and out of the water.

CHARGER SLIPKNOT ROPE BRACELETS

Both our Charger Slipknot Rope Bracelets and our Wave Chaser Rope Bracelets are one size fits all and function in the same way. Loosen the slipknots on either side of the hardware. Slip the bracelet over your hand so it wraps twice. Tighten the slipknots so it fits snug around your wrist. Need a visual?

VOYAGER ROPE BRACELET

Think you recognize the stainless steel clasp on your Voyager Bracelet? Well, you’re on to something—it’s actually designed after a self-tailing winch! No doubt you’ve used one before, but how much do you really know about the history and function of this sailing mainstay? Check out our recent Sea Spritz post to learn more HERE. Our stainless steel winch operates a little bit differently, learn how below.
